FIRST YEAR FOR THE UPMARKET MERCURY MODEL LINE
Named after the swift, winged messenger of Greco-Roman mythology, the new-for-1939 Mercury nameplate was championed by Ford Motor Company president Edsel Ford and exemplified the companys bold new growth strategy. Riding a longer-wheelbase chassis than the Ford model line, the upscale Mercury marque exuded an image of speed and style and was positioned between the entry-level Ford models and Lincolns top-of-the-line Zephyr. From launch, Mercury competed head-on with Chrysler and Dodge, GMs Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac marques, as well as Hudson and Nash. Mercury styling cues included fashionably curved fenders and rounded bodylines, plus a crisply pointed frontal treatment, the product of Edsel Fords affinity for speedboats and the yacht-design background of Ford styling chief Bob Gregorie. When production began, Mercury offered a focused line of four body styles, included a choice of two- or four-door 'beetleback' sedans, a notchback sedan coupe, and convertible coupe. All were V-8 powered and prices ranged from around $915 to just over $1,000.
Offered from the historic first year for Mercury production, this sleek 1939 mercury eight Coupe is the product of a detailed, high-quality restoration and looks fabulous with its dark blue paint over burgundy upholstery. Powered by the venerable 239 cubic-inch Flathead V-8 engine exclusive for 1939 for the Mercury model line, this sleek Coupe is equipped with a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission, plus a factory AM radio and manifold-type heater, plus desirable bumper guards and tips providing additional distinction. Former owners include an AACA president and the Benny Bootle Collection. In addition to being the first Mercury production year, 1939 also marked the debut of Ford Motor Companys brand-diversification strategy, which would continue through the 1990s. If youre looking for a highly usable, show-worthy classic car that is also quite uncommon today, the early mercury models are a great option for smart collectors and enthusiasts. With its high-quality restoration and noted former collector/owners, this first-year Mercury Eight Coupe offers many possibilities for its next owner. See it today call us for a viewing appointment and get ready to hit the road or the show field with this wonderful 1939 Mercury Eight Coupe!

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING:
This vehicle is being advertised locally and may be sold before the auction ends.
Terms:
Bidders with less than 5 feedbacks must contact us prior to bidding. If you do not contact us, we reserve the right to cancel your bid without notice. Please do not ask our reserve price, simply bid what you are comfortable with.
Your winning bid is a contract to purchase the vehicle, not a "come, look, and negotiate." This is a serious auction for serious buyers only. Please ask all relevant questions prior to bidding. All vehicles are sold as-is. By placing a bid, you are agreeing to these terms of sale.
Winning bidder must communicate with Seller by phone within 24 hours of the end of auction to make arrangements to complete transaction.  If no contact is made, we reserve the right to re-list the vehicle, sell it to the next highest bidder, or sell it otherwise.

As-Is:
The Last Detail has described the above-mentioned vehicle to the best of our ability, however, as with all pre-owned automobiles, the condition is subjective, and recommend that the buyer inspect and test drive the vehicle before finalizing their purchase.  The Last Detail shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with the vehicle at the buyer’s request prior to close of sale.  No allowances or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle, and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgement solely.  It is the sole responsibility of the buyer to verify the existence of options, accessories and the vehicle condition before time of sale. Any and all differences must be addressed prior to the time of sale. The Last Detail assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle.  Despite our best efforts to verify a vehicle’s mechanical condition, we are not able to warranty a manufacturer’s workmanship or a previous owner’s diligence in care of said vehicle.  There are no mechanical guarantees, expressed or implied. We will not be responsible for buyer’s remorse or issues to said vehicle once it has left our premises. We are being realistic; most of the cars we sell are vintage and by their very nature will need TLC and some degree of attention sooner or later.  Therefore, all vehicles are sold “AS IS”.  However, extended warranty options are available on most vehicles.  Please inquire if you are interested.
Mileage:
Vintage cars in excess of 10 years of age, in most US states, mileage may be recorded as “exempt”. The Last Detail makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown and accepts no responsibility for any discrepancy with independent reports such as CarFax, Autocheck, etc. Unless the vehicle is advertised as an original mileage car, do not assume that the mileage/odometer reading is the actual mileage. It is simply what the odometer is reading at the time pictures are taken. MILEAGE IS NOT ACTUAL UNLESS STATED SO IN THE DESCRIPTION! Vehicles are test driven and mileage may vary at time of sale.
